- Mitsubishi Motors North America donates limited-production and highly collectible car to National MS Society, Pacific South Coast Chapter
- Auction is now live on eBay and concludes Nov. 21 at the 29th annual MS Dinner Auction
November 12, 2015 — CYPRESS, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA), title sponsor of the 29th annual MS Dinner Auction, has announced a national auction of the very first Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition, 1 of 1,600 produced, to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In order to make the vehicle available to collectors across the country and raise as much money possible, the auction went live 10 days in advance at 9 p.m. PST on Nov. 11 on eBay. Bidding will conclude Nov. 21 at the MS Dinner Auction at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado, California.
The pinnacle of Mitsubishi’s state-of-the-art technology and engineering, the Lancer Evolution, is in its 10th and final year and only 1,600 Final Edition models will be produced for the U.S., each carrying a unique numbered plaque. Bidding for the US0001 car is now open on eBay and concludes onsite at the MS Dinner Nov. 21, allowing dinner attendees to participate in the auction*. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the National MS Society.
“We are thrilled and grateful Mitsubishi Motors has partnered with us as the title sponsor for this year’s annual MS Dinner Auction,” said Richard Israel, President of the National MS Society, Pacific South Coast Chapter. “With the support of Mitsubishi Motors we are able to fund cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education, collaborate with MS organizations around the world, and provide programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.”
The Lancer Evolution is revered by ‘gear heads’ around the world and is arguably the originator of the four-door sports car genre. The Final Edition model features a 5-speed transmission paired with a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder 2.0L engine, making the Final Edition the most powerful mass-produced Evolution ever built with 303 horsepower. The Final Edition is based off the current GSR model and features lightweight two-piece Brembo® brake rotors up front, accompanied by Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs at all four corners and Mitsubishi’s innovative and unmatched Super All-Wheel Control system.
“Mitsubishi Motors has been involved with the National MS Society for more than 16 years, raising money through a variety of activities and event sponsorships,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, MMNA. “It was only fitting that this year, to enhance our title sponsorship of the event, we donate something that means so much to the brand. By expanding the auction nationally, we hope to increase our donation to a charity that is near and dear to the hearts of everyone at Mitsubishi.”
