Radical SR8 RX is a more extreme version of the previous model SR3, intended mostly for racetrack but it can be also registered for the road. Sharing similar styling and safety features with its sibling the SR3 RS The SR8 is powered by 2.7 litre RPX V8 engine that develops 430 bhp (321 kW). A further variant, known as the SR8LM, increased the engine to 2800 cc and brought power output to 455 hp (339 kW). RP V8 engine powers the SR8 RX trough a RPE/Quaife six-speed transaxle coupled with the RPE paddleshift, with auto-blipper, flat upshifts and clutchless downshift as all part of the set. Constructed from gel-coated fiberglass, the body is made up of six pieces, with front cockpit fairing having a quick-release feature, for easier removal/reinstall for repairs.

The rear section can be removed as well, having an integrated engine induction and ventilation louvers, while rear wing is a bi-plane design, which teamed with aluminum side wings enables this vehicle high-speed stability. The 2-seater, powder-coated carbon steel spaceframe chassis features a safety shell along with the 77-liter, foam-filled aluminum gas tank.

Powertec P-Tec 6-speed sequential transaxle links up to the engine. This transmission hooks up to the engine via a lightweight steel flywheel and a twin-plate clutch. The transmission throws power through a torque-biasing limited slip differential that quickly shifts the torque from a slipping wheel to the gripping wheel. Former former F1 driver Alex Yoong described SR8 RX’s gearbox as “the best gearchange I’ve driven outside of F1.”  SR8 RX hit 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, and goes from 50 to 100 mph in just 4.3 seconds. It also translates into a top speed of 175 mph.

The rotors measure 280 mm x 25 mm (11.02 x 0.98 inches) and they feature 48 vanes for quick cooling. Squeezing the brake pads onto these large rotors are Radical 4-piston calipers.
